Busy day for both of us today... I did several hours of shopping, Willi kept the stove humming all day. We had a moment of melt down... or mostly, I had a meltdown, but between the two of us... or mostly, Willi... figured out how to drag us back into some sense of calm and forward movement. Sometimes, two heads (and two hearts) really ARE better than one.
I got another tutorial on pasta making to prep me for next week when Willi is up in Seattle, and then headed out for deliveries. Made a big circle of the southern East Bay Area...Oakland, San Leandro, Danville and Walnut Creek. Good to have a few moments to talk with Domenique (commiserating about ACT and the various huge changes in the theatre companies in the area) and with Stephanie. Sometimes it feels like half the reason for this endeavor is to create moments to connect with my friends. Last stop was at Becky and Evan's. So good to see them every week. Marian and Eleanor are definitely the best, most charming, funniest part of the week.
Home to have dinner with Jack (leftover recipe tests for upcoming special menus and to enlist he and Willi into helping me with the prep for the Elvis Bread Pudding for Friday. Tomorrow is big prep day and we also got new shelving for the dining room cum pantry area. Hoping to get that all set up in the morning and have more space to work!
All in all, a day that started out pretty crappy ended up feeling much much better. Grateful for kindness, friends who reach out when I am dealing with a lot, forgiveness, compassion, patience and love. I hope that your day ended well, that you found soft places to rest and good food to eat. I hope that we all can be kinder than necessary... to each other and to ourselves. I hope that tomorrow is good to you and that your dreams are sweet. xoxo
