Woke to the news that my good friend Bob was taken by helicopter to the hospital this morning...so I am keeping him in my thoughts and sending love to both him and Molly Conole. Got up and jumped into the sugar/butter/flour reality of my morning.
Got to make a rich chocolate cake for Ross' birthday, and a bonus little visit with Diane when I dropped it off. So many of us needing to talk, to connect with our people, to express our fears and hopes.
Dropped off Roberta's order early too, so the cinnamon rolls were still warm. Home to finish getting orders out, with a lot of laughter and joking. I like when our days feel like that.
Got to deliver THREE different gift orders today. I just love this trend, where folks are reaching out to provide nurturing loving care to friends through a gift voucher of our food. I get to vicariously feel like part of the gift! I am going to continue my "free delivery on gift vouchers" thing through July, to just keep the good vibes going. It makes the gift go a little further too, as recipients can spend all the dollar amount on food.
Got to see Stephanie, who I haven't seen in ages. Met a couple new folks who were gifted by a friend of mine from Camp GLP, and a quick hello to Amy. Great conversation with Jon in the rendezvous CVS parking lot. Half the joy of this endeavor is getting to see my people.
Drove out to Pleasant Hill to drop off to the Botts' and had a lovely catch up with Megan, who I have known since she was five. Her darling boy Jude is right about that age now and is such a cute, smart kid. His sister wasn't as eager to hang out with me, but maybe someday when this weird "stay a certain distance away from grownups" thing ends. So good to talk with Megan. She is a GEM.
Then on to raid plums from Stephanie and have a proper catch up in her back yard. Her tree was crazy full of plums and I took SOOOOO many. I will be able to offer Plum Tarte again! She also gave me an armful of the most gorgeous lavender. Too generous but I love it. And it almost normal to have a good girl-talk visit, despite the masks.
