Day Four of MARTHA AVE Home Cooked Meal Service- Well, it really should've been Day Three as well as Day Four. Yesterday got away from me a little bit. We had a bunch of orders come in (which is GREAT! Keep it coming, Universe) which meant a couple of trips to stand in line at the stores and prepping 6 loaves of sourdough, a batch of cookies and doing what I can to help Willi keep on top of the dishes, while also managing to attend a group meeting on Zoom, teach a voice-over workshop on Zoom, and lead a Full Moon circle on Zoom. Where would we all be in this crazy time without Zoom? And don't we all wish we had bought stock in Zoom about 6 months ago? Not that I have stock in anything... except the Matzoh Ball soup! (Schtick around for the jokes...)
On top of all that, I was pretty distracted by the news of friends who are fighting hard to get through this virus and by my dear old dad, who fell and broke his hip last night. He is doing ok, had surgery today to replace the hip, and hopefully will be in the hospital for just a couple days, in rehab for a shorter time than that, and then allowed to go back to his assisted living place... assuming of course, that he stays HEALTHY during this time. So needless to say... a little extra stress to work around.
But onward we go. MARTHA AVENUE is officially launched and we are taking orders for three delivery days a week. This means that we are serving pick up/delivery of food on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Folks can order up until the night of the previous delivery day for the following one. So, order by evening of the Monday for availability on the Wednesday, order by evening on the Wednesday to get the food on Friday. This is because I am having to go search out the supplies in all the crazy, and Willi wants to be able to make sure that we have what we say we will have.
Currently, we have supplies to do a few more orders for this Friday... Thai Curry, Pozole, a couple orders of Ragu (unless I can find more ground pork) Apple Crumble, Panna Cotta and Cookies. Sourdough and a soft, Annadama bread are also available. I would say to get your orders in quick, if you think you want something for Friday. If you are thinking about something for Monday, letting us know sooner than later gives me time to go do my hunter/gatherer thing and stand in line. (Secret strategy- bring a book!)
We are so very thrilled at the response from the community. I look forward to feeding you all in person someday soon, but in the meantime, let me know if you'd like a little quarantine rations to keep body and soul together. Lots of love is baked right in. (no fancy photos today because I was out on deliveries, but here are a couple to amuse you.).
Stay well. Hug your people, until the time we can all hug all our people. xoxox
