MARTHA AVENUE- Day 86 Feeling grateful for my community tonight. Simply the feeling of being connected to a group of kind, compassionate people. People who are working to be better, be kinder, more inclusive, less automatic.
Went for a walk this morning in the park... I haven't been doing nearly enough of that... and had a nice trailside chat with Steve and Claire, who live on the corner of my block. One of the hidden blessings of this SIP situation, has been finally getting to know some of my neighbors. I have lived in this house for over 25 years and have only really had a chatting relationship with one or two of my neighbors. But thanks to Steve, who runs the trails every morning, and MARTHA AVENUE, I am actually getting acquainted with more neighbors. It feels nice.
North Bay delivery day took me out to Bolinas today. It was such a lovely day for a drive, and it felt good to drive up over Tam with the show tunes blaring and the sun in my eyes.
showed me her gorgeous chicken house and gifted me with six perfect pale green eggs. A perfect pick me up gift!
Got to have a good long visit with my mom. My brother and his family had been staying with her since the quarantine began and their "around the world" trip had been cut short. Finally, after three months, their house was available again and they moved back home to Alameda yesterday. My mom was missing the girls a lot, so I chatted with her for a bit, fixed a little computer thing for her and watered the budding garden. I felt like a proper gardener seeing the little starts I put in last week... nothing died yet...all doing their best to grow.
Filled a couple bags of manure to bring back to my garden and forJennifer. Its a funny present to bring someone, but for the gardener, manure is a really good present!
Home again and planning menus for our next collaboration dinner with Oasis/Meals on Heels. Our next date is July 10th, so we will be testing and photography menu items this week. Planning two new desserts too...thinking about a Deep Chocolate and Cherry brownie and some sort of Meyer Lemon Semolina cake... might have to beg some more lemons from Colin and Karen
!
Menu for Wednesday (SF and East Bay Delivery) is below. Orders should be placed by tomorrow morning for Wednesday.
I hope you feel supported by your community as I do. I hope you feel loved and held and seen. I hope that sleep comes easily and that dreams are sweet. Hug yourself for me xoxo
