A good morning, even got to sleep in a little bit.
Felt good to have a night with Willi, not scrambling to get food made. We spent a couple hours in the outdoor tub, which is totally delicious. Made for a restful night and an easy morning start. Got the orders set up, helped Willi make biscuits and made a quick shopping trip to pick up more buttermilk and another 50 pounds of onions... we go through a LOT of onions.
Brought still warm biscuits to Roberta and Bob, and got an all caps text immediately, gushing about the biscuits. And they ARE ridiculously good. Milissa picked up an order and we got to have a short catch up in the street. We have seen each other online a couple times with Mark and Colin's trivia game, but it felt really good to see each other in person, albeit across the street and masked.
Next, Amy's place and a conversation about how we are connected. The GLP/World Domination community is so intertwined! Got to see Brett and have a little moment in a parking lot in Walnut Creek... just a moment of comfort and reminiscence. Then, a quick visit with Heidi and a longer chat with Becky and sweet little Eleanor and Marian.
This damn Covid-thing shows its most frustrating face when I get to be with that yummy little baby with her chubby little thighs and I DON'T GET TO HOLD HER! And Willi became a an uncle yesterday (congratulationsgo out to Kip and Taylor and a hearty welcome to the world for baby McCrae!) and we are trying to figure out if he gets to see the baby... or gets to go up and cook for them for a week or something. Damn pandemic. Obviously, there are way more serious facets to be worried about with regards to this pandemic, but today... I just wanted to squeeze that little baby. And give Miss Eleanor a huge hug.
Next was a quick visit and catch up with Gwen and a morel transfer. Those morels are SO fragrant. They smell like forest floor. And are so fun to find!
Last, down to Alameda to drop off to Ramona. So nice to be able to bring goodies all over the East Bay and see so many good folks.
Home to clean the kitchen... I am really thinking of changing my name to Sisyphus. (My brother Johnny used to call me Sissy when we were really little... maybe he knew I was going to be pushing my kitchen/boulder up hill forever!)
Finally, a rehearsal with Scrumbly and Noah and Cab on their new musical. They are putting together a promo demo reading, and we rehearsed for a while, but also ended up having a long conversation about the Living Document and how to be better advocates/allies/humans. And how to create art that tells a new story, in a new way, with a new sensibility.

And now, I am off to bed. I hope that everyone is finding ways to embrace unlearning, learning, dismantling, resist, insist, speak up, speak out and be kind. Get some extra sleep, drink a lot of water. Give yourselves a hug from me.
