How on earth does the time slip by so quickly. 65 days.
Today felt like a day to regroup and start again. It was a delivery day, but was on a the light side, so we had some space to slice and dry mushrooms, make more Moroccan Tagine and have a slower start to the day.
After the SF orders were picked up, I headed up to the North Bay and up to Pt Reyes to see my mom and deliver to her hill. Had a good long talk with my mom, and another good chat with my brother, Dan, who is staying with her with his family. We spoke about many things but central to the conversation, of course, was discussion about BLM, the protests, the sad sorry state of our nation, our historical complicitness, cultural bias and how we can make a difference in our own ways.
Maybe the most important thing some of us can do (besides marching/donating funds etc) is to be willing to have, and creating time and space to have, the difficult conversations. The admittance of times when we have been swayed by bias, when we have spoke words inadvertently that may have hurt POC. The willingness to speak of things that are awkward or uncomfortable. To be willing to be uncomfortable in order to create a world that is safe for everyone in it.
Spent a little time this evening playing an online game of Codenames with some friends. It is one of the hidden blessings of this quarantine, that there is a way to hang out with a group of friends for an hour or so, playing a fun group game, and it's easy and fun to manage. No commute, no clean up. And again, its a way for us to stay connected, and nurture the friendships that normally are revived during shows and sadly neglected when we are not working together.
Headed to bed. This body and mind and heart and spirit are weary. Menu below is good for Wednesday. Orders should be placed by tomorrow morning for delivery or pick up (SF and EAST BAY) on Wednesday the 10th.
I hope that you are finding moments of clarity, thoughtfulness, glimmers of hope and some rest. Take care, eat well, drink lots of water. Rest, to rise up and work towards a better world for all of us. Hug yourselves for me. I miss that! xoxo
