MARTHA AVENUE- DAY 21! Three weeks of cooking and shopping like a madwoman and bring delicious stuff to folks all over the Bay Area.
One of my favorite things of the past few weeks (and frankly of my regular life too) is the endless stream of conversation, recipe exchange, cup-of-sugar-borrowing, late night commiseration that goes on between the two flats that make up the Martha Avenue 'compound'. Jamye lives in the downstairs flat with her husband, Chris. Jamye has lived here for almost 4 years, I think? From day one, we have been sharing ideas, funny dating stories and advice, supporting each other through sad stuff and happy stuff and ridiculous stuff. And sharing food.
There is a yellow plate (it belongs to her) that has been going back and forth between the two households for the last 6 weeks of quarantine. In the past, we used all sorts of plates or containers, but right now it seems that this little plate has become the banner of connection and hope and fun. One day it goes downstairs with Salted Rye Mexican-spiced Brownies, and then comes up with Poblano-Pesto and tiny homemade tortillas, the next it's homemade ravioli and then back with homemade corndogs... It's a constant reminder of the world that we love, the world we have intentionally built, the world that we are longing to return to. And this part of the world, I feel confident that we can hang on to. This little yellow plate is one of the things that I am counting on to get me through this time.
Jamye also took that amazing photo for MARTHA AVENUE Home Cooked Meals. And has been an amazing cheerleader for the last three weeks. We are offering a couple of new soups this week and a couple new dessert options.
Orders for Monday pick up or delivery in SF or the North Bay can be taken through tonight. Menu should be good for Wednesday (SF and East Bay day) as well. And now, you can also do your ordering through the store on cindygoldfield.com... I am in the process of setting up a marthaavenuefood.com website, but for now you can order via cindygoldfield@gmail.com, via text on 415-205-7365. Looking forward to bringing the deliciousness to more folks this week. In the meantime, stay safe, be kind to yourself and hug your people. xoxo
